Sponsored Riders

The Gus Trent Rodeo Association identifies next generation riders who compete in rodeo and honor the history of rodeo in their community. We fundraise to cover the logistical costs of young riders so they can continue to compete across the nation and follow their dreams.

Meet this year's rider!

Harrel Williams Jr.

Please allow me to introduce you to 9 year old Harrel Williams Jr. AKA June Bug.  JB is from Prairie View Texas where he lives with his parents Harrel Sr. and Danielle Clark. JB is a third generation cowboy who currently competes in break away roping and double mugging (roper is assisted with flanking the calf) JB is excelling in school and competes at rodeos  on a regular bases throughout the year. He travels with his parents to rodeos as his mother is a competitive barrel racer an his father is a tie down roper.

I have had the pleasure of watching this young man compete and excel inside the arena as well as observe him on the outside. You will not find a young man that poses such amazing character and humbleness at such a young age. Even though he is only nine he has committed himself to the sport of rodeo and quite frankly outside of school and family this is all he wants to do. As we discussed the financial commitment and sacrifices that his parents make to keep him competitive is huge. On a regular bases they often sit out of competitions because of limited finances together to support  him and his dream.
